Hardness varies by source. LADWP’s 2024 report shows total hardness (as CaCO₃) ranging roughly 112–272 mg/L across major plants—about 6–16 grains/gal. We size media and pre-filters with that range in mind.
Fluoride is maintained around 0.7 mg/L (state-required range 0.6–1.2 mg/L). If you want reduced-fluoride drinking water, RO is the typical path.
PFAS: EPA now has national MCLs for several PFAS (e.g., PFOA/PFOS). If that’s a priority, we recommend systems with NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 claims for those specific compounds.

Permits: In L.A., plumbing alterations can require a permit; whole-house filtration that modifies piping is typically permitted. We handle it. (Simple point-of-use faucet filters usually don’t need plan check, but we’ll confirm.)
Cross-connection control: Depending on layout, backflow protection can be required to protect the building’s potable system. We design accordingly.
