Every system below is installed by a licensed plumber with proper valves and fittings, never a saddle tap, and flow-tested before we leave.
A whole-house (point-of-entry) system treats every tap, shower and appliance in your home. For LA water we use a sediment pre-filter followed by catalytic carbon, which removes chloramine far better than standard carbon. We size the system to your home's peak flow, usually 8 to 15 gallons per minute, so you don't lose water pressure, and we install a bypass valve for easy servicing. This is the right choice if chlorine smell in the shower, dry skin or taste at every tap bothers you.
An under-sink RO system pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane, cutting lead, PFAS (PFOA/PFOS), fluoride, arsenic and total dissolved solids (TDS) for drinking and cooking. We install NSF/ANSI 58-certified units with a dedicated faucet, a code-compliant drain connection and an optional line to your refrigerator and ice maker. Modern tankless RO units waste far less water than older 4-to-1 systems. We record a before-and-after TDS reading so you can see the difference.
For renters, condo owners or anyone who mainly wants better-tasting water from one faucet, a multi-stage under-sink carbon filter (NSF/ANSI 42 and 53) is a compact, lower-cost option. It reduces chlorine taste, odor, lead and many VOCs without the extra space or drain line RO needs.
UV systems (NSF/ANSI 55) disable bacteria and viruses without chemicals. Most LADWP customers don't need UV, but we add it for homes on private wells, properties with storage tanks, or households with immune-compromised family members.
Filtration removes chloramine and contaminants; it does not remove hardness. If scale is your main problem, pair your filter with a water softener installation so both are sized and plumbed together in one visit.
Restaurants, coffee shops, offices and multi-unit buildings get filtration sized for ice machines, espresso equipment and higher flow, with backflow protection where code requires it. Larger projects are handled by our commercial plumbing team in Los Angeles.
